In September, the StimWell Services Vessel, Island Patriot successfully completed a major proppant fracturing campaign for Wintershall in the Upper and Lower Slochteren (Rotliegend) in the Dutch Sector of the North Sea. The Campaign consisted of 5 tip-screenout fractures and utilized ball-activated sliding sleeves in a horizontal sub-sea completion.
This was the largest ever single mobilization for a proppant fracturing campaign in the North Sea. The vessel left Esbjerg loaded with over 2,500,000 lbs of coated proppant and completed all 5 zones with over 1,000 psi net pressure on each, a great success. The campaign lasted 19 days, 10 of which were waiting-on-weather and Wintershall were able to save valuable time by completing the campaign in just one single mobilization.
This was the first sub-sea multi-frac horizontal well to be completed in the North Sea and also the first to use the ball-activated sliding sleeve technique for tip-screenout fracturing in the North Sea. StimWell looks forward to moving forward with these services in the North Sea.
