StimWell’s first two campaigns on Valhall have been pronounced an absolute success by BP Norge with 1st class vessel operation and ensuing high production. The first campaign early in the summer encompassed a multi-zone coiled-tubing acid stimulation using an abrasive jetting tool and subsequent acid pumping through a Jet Frac Straddle packer assembly. Many innovations were realised through the campaign with all 35 zones treated individually in a vessel-location time of less than 6 ½ days. Freshwater, carried by the vessel from port, was used for all fluid mixing. In addition, the vessel remained hooked-up and pumping throughout a passing low-pressure system where maximum wave increased to 5m and winds gusted between 25 and 35 knots, confirming the vessel’s exceptional station-holding capacity.
The 2nd campaign was completed later in the Autumn, again multi-zone but higher rate through SSDs with 7 individual zones treated in just over 1 ½ days vessel-location time. Both campaigns utilised StimWell’s 28% HCl near-spent cross-linked acid system, resulting in highly effective stimulation and a clean-up efficiency previously unseen in Valhall operations.
